Expanding The Maker Project: One Collection. More Possibilities.
As The Maker Project celebrates its 10-year anniversary, Versteel is introducing a series of enhancements. Together, they expand the collection’s versatility across educational, workplace, and social environments.
Originally designed to support makerspaces and hands-on learning, The Maker Project has grown into a comprehensive offering. Today, the collection of tables, seating, markerboards, and lighting work together to foster creativity, collaboration, and innovation.
New enhancements to The Maker Project include:
- Expanded worksurface options for Utility, adjustable height, and Maker A tables:
Laminate with PVC edge, phenolic resin, and stainless steel surfaces join the existing maple butcher block offering. The addition of these material options enables customers to tailor surfaces to the demands of their space.
- New lower shelf for Utility and adjustable height tables:
Offered in laminate with PVC edge, stainless steel, and perforated metal, the new lower shelf enhances storage and organization while complementing a variety of applications and aesthetics.
- Bag Hooks for Utility, adjustable height, and Maker A tables:
Powder coated steel bag hooks, available in single and double, are field installed to give users complete control over placement for storage of personal items.
- Table Link and integrated power for Utility and Maker A tables:
Easy-to-use table linking enables softwired and hardwired power connections, resulting in stable, technology-ready configurations that simplify reconfiguration and support collaboration.
- Expanded seating options for round Utility stools:
Urethane encapsulated seats provide a durable, easy-to-clean solution for demanding environments. Because they are molded in-house, they are available in Versteel’s ten standard urethane colors.
- Upholstered seat pads for round Utility stools, sled base chairs and stools:
Upholstered seat pads add comfort and elevate the aesthetic of The Maker Project seating, supporting longer collaboration sessions and more design-driven environments.

More Ways of Making
Over the past decade, the definition of making has evolved. Today, making happens wherever people come together to explore ideas, solve problems, collaborate, and create. From STEM classrooms and science labs to libraries, healthcare settings, and public spaces, future-ready environments require adaptable furniture solutions that support multiple modes of learning and engagement.
The Maker Project addresses these needs by balancing industrial durability with human-centered design. Many of the collection’s most successful additions – including these enhancements – began as customer requests and project-specific solutions. Today, these proven ideas are part of the standard offering. As a result, Versteel gives customers greater flexibility to use a single collection throughout an entire project. From better organization and workflow to greater comfort and personalization, The Maker Project is now more adaptable to a wider range of environments and activities while maintaining the cohesive design language and handcrafted character that define the collection.
American Manufacturing
Crafted using Versteel’s signature Studio Steel® process, The Maker Project celebrates the authenticity of American steel through visible welds and handcrafted details. Designed and manufactured in Jasper, Indiana, the collection reflects Versteel’s commitment to quality craftsmanship, flexibility, and customer-driven innovation.
As the Maker Project enters its next decade, Versteel continues to evolve the collection through customization and problem-solving. Each evolution reflects the changing ways people learn, work, and create. Whether selecting from the expanded offering or exploring a project-specific solution, customers can rely on The Maker Project to adapt to their unique needs.
